We decided at the last minute to do our first look pics at the house. I love them! |
Yeah!!!!
Then this happened:
We honeymooned in Norway!
Ya know, just trollin the fjords. Drinking spiced wine in a special mug. NBD. |
Now, to get you up to speed on the actual purpose of this blog!
We finished the electric, plumbing, hvac, passed final inspection. The insulation people came. They sprayed this gooey yellow foam insulation in first. I don't have any pics of that but it was funny looking. Then they sprayed cellulose. All of a sudden our house was quiet, it was the weirdest thing. Quiet and cool. And there was a lot of cellulose to be cleaned up on our newly glazed factory windows. Ha!
Then things REALLY started happening. Sheetrock took about 3 days. Seriously, 3 days and somehow our house was transformed from this massive mess into something sort of actually resembling a house.
Lots of other things have happened too! We bought a cool slate fireplace for the downstairs living room at Architectural Salvage in Louisville, KY (the best place eva)
We also picked some limestone tile for the master bath. And ordered it!
We got our housewrap installed, and put up one wall of open joint siding. I'm minimizing the work involved. It actually involved cutting down fibercement to perfect strips, sanding, painting all 6 sides twice with a sprayer, and then installing in perfectly horizontal lines. I helped put up the housewrap. All I can say is scaffolding is NOT my favorite.
We're really proud of this though.
It's a newer rain screen system popular in the Northwest and Europe. Levi did some major researching figuring out how to install it. I think he did such a good job!
This is our first wall of siding |
Eventually the brick will be the same color as the siding. |
Our crown molding for the downstairs arrived and it is beautiful.
We got a new back door! (There's now a matching one upstairs as well)
Just before the wedding we got as many of our casement windows installed as we could. More to come!
As soon as Levi gets home from Alaska, Buzz is coming and we are learning how to do plaster veneer. Stay tuned!
Love all the organic finishes, and soooo glad you are keeping some of the brickwork exposed. What a fabulous home you're going to have! Your granny, Betty Scott, keeps us up to date at church, and I drive by frequently to check it out. Ruthie Elliott, a renovation voyeur......
