Kitchen goes up

This week a lot has happened!

Levi spent last weekend pent up inside due to the crazy snow/ice storm we had in West KY. It stayed very very cold for several days... like 11 degrees cold. Which was actually a blessing in disguise. Our city inspector wanted a framing plan drawn up so it gave Levi some time to play around with google sketch up, and make a final plan for the back of the house. Turns out the inspector would have been happy with a drawing on a napkin... but it allowed us to think ahead and do some serious planning which we probably should have done months ago.

And then.. the building began!

I was so happy to just have a floor. It's so hard to plan a space when you cant stand inside it!

Then we got side walls...

And a back wall!

We found a guy to sandblast and powder coat our steel windows and dropped them off on Thursday. And he is even a welder, so he is also going to alter one of the windows to make it more narrow for us to fit in the opening on the left, above.

Before the storm, I spent a day helping scrape one of the window frames, sanding, and painting a coat of primer. I can't believe how good it looks! The grey will be repainted and the edge will have another piece of trim, but look at how smooth the wood up top looks. Like brand new.

Now we've got the house wrapped up, tools put away, and we're off to Utah for a week of vacation!
